🇲🇩 Moldova: most of the songs submitted are sent from abroad for the selection of Eurovision 2022

Teleradio-Moldova announced that most of the songs submitted for the national selection for Eurovision 2022 were sent from abroad.

According to the organizing committee of Teleradio-Moldova, most of the songs submitted for the national selection for Eurovision 2022 were sent from abroad. Head of delegation VItalie Cojocaru explained:

“This fact testifies to the increased international interest in this music – concludes the organizing committee.”

Until January 24 at 5:00 p.m. local time, singers can submit their songs to Eurovision.md or TRM Studios in Chisinau. Singers over the age of 16 are eligible to compete, songs cannot have been performed or released before September 1, 2022.

The Moldovan selection will take place in two phases. Applications will be evaluated between January 25 and 28 before the live auditions are held on January 29. Once the auditions have been organised, TRM can then decide to hold the Moldovan selection on March 5.

Moldova was represented by Natalia Gordienko at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with “Sugar”. Moldova finished 13th with a total of 115 points, including 2 sets of 12 points from the juries of Bulgaria and Russia, and 2 sets of 12 points from the public of the Czech Republic and Moldova.

Moldova made its Eurovision Song Contest debut in 2005 when the contest was held in Kyiv, Ukraine. That year, Bulgaria also made their contest debut and Hungary returned after a long absence since 1998. Moldova’s best result in the contest to date was 3rd place in 2017 for Sunstroke Project with “Hey Mamma !”, It was the second time the band had represented their country at Eurovision.
