A substitute for buying Russian oil could be an expansion of supplies through the TAL pipeline from Trieste, Italy.
According to European Pravda, citing Novinky.cz, this statement was made by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala during a visit to Berlin.
“This is very important if we want to impose an embargo to ensure that citizens and businesses have enough oil…Tightening the capacity of the pipeline is the key to eliminating dependence on the Russian oil,” he said.
According to Fiala, this is the easiest way to find substitutes for oil from the Russian Federation.
“TAL would solve our problems. , Austria and Germany or Bavaria,” he added.
Recall that the Czech Republic is among the countries that criticize the EU’s plan to include an embargo on the oil of the Russian Federation in the sixth sanctions package. European Union countries are “almost ready” to agree on a new sanctions package against Russia, including an oil embargo, EU Foreign Policy High Representative Josep Borrell has said.
The Czech Republic is heavily dependent on Russian oil, which is why the fial had previously suggested postponing the embargo for two to three years.
Given the strong dependence of individual countries, the EU has already announced the exclusion of the embargo for Hungary and Slovakia. In addition, Bulgaria also invokes this exception.
